Right before we moved, I got rid of a huge amount of makeup, most of which I hadn’t used in years. I noticed that I was keeping it just because I had spent money on it; not because I had actually planned on using it, not because I loved it, just because I had already bought it and couldn’t return it. Not only that, there was no way that I was going to use it all, I had a ridiculous amount of eyeshadow and lipgloss and no other products. I knew I would never be able to use all of it, so I just kept what I knew I would use. So, I decided I needed to replenish my makeup stash and restock on some items that I desperately needed! Here are the items that I got for myself and some items that I got for Freddie in my massive Ulta haul!
Clinique 3 Step Introduction Kit Skin Type 3 – Oily skin – I’ve never really had a skin care routine before, however, I know that I should have one. My skin has always been very oily, I’ve always had problems with acne, and I can probably attribute that to me not taking care of my skin. My mom is a huge fan of Clinique and I have used some of their products here and there. I decided on this kit because it is easy and I trust the brand!
e.l.f. Cosmetics Mineral Infused Face Primer – Neutralizing Green – Like I said before, I have always struggled with acne and with acne comes blotchy red skin. Thankfully, during pregnancy my acne has died down a little, however, the blotchy redness hasn’t. So, I decided to give this product a try, it had good reviews and it wasn’t crazy expensive!
e.l.f. Cosmetics Mineral Pearls – Skin Balancing – I actually ran across these on Pinterest and again, with my red blotchy skin, I wanted to give them a try. I have used them two times since I got my Ulta shipment and they do work pretty well. I wish that they gave me a little more coverage on my redness, but overall, they work pretty well!
e.l.f. Cosmetics Translucent Mattifying Powder – I searched for a powder for oily skin when I was placing my Ulta order and this compact popped up. I haven’t used it yet, but I am excited to see if it keeps my oily skin under control!
e.l.f. Cosmetics Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder – Contouring is the new thing and it’s no secret. I wanted to give it a little bit of a try, so I decided to grab this powder. I got it in the shade Fiji and I love the color of the blush, it is so gorgeous! I’m hoping that the color works well with my skin tone.
e.l.f. Cosmetics Baked Highlighter – Moonlight Pearls – I have never owned a highlighter and the color of this one was so gorgeous, I thought I would give it a try. I have used it a couple times and I really love the color of it. The only complaint that I have is that it is really hard to get started. I felt like I was swiping my brush through the compact over and over before I got any kind of powder off of it. However, it does highlight really well without being too overwhelming.
e.l.f. Cosmetics Makeup Mist and Set – I feel like every makeup tutorial I have seen on Pinterest talks about how important it is to use a makeup setting spray after you have finished applying your makeup! I have used the Urban Decay All-Nighter Makeup Setting Spray before and it worked really well, but I just didn’t have the money to splurge on it this time. So, I decided to give this one a try and I’ve used it one time so far and it has worked really well!
CoverGirl Clean Matte BB Cream for Oily Skin – Again, I found this product when I was searching for products geared toward oily skin. I have only used it once, but it worked pretty well for me. My skin was a little oily by the end of the day, but it was much better than what it normally is!
Ulta Mineral Powder Foundation – I have always loved loose powder foundations, I just feel like they sit better on my skin than pressed powders. I have only used this one once but I liked how it sat on my skin, it wasn’t too heavy and didn’t make my skin looked caked with makeup, which I really really like. I also like that it isn’t too pigmented, so it didn’t make me look like I had an orange face and a white neck!
e.l.f. Cosmetics Pressed Mineral Blush – Jet Setter – This blush color is absolutely gorgeous! It is pigmented very well, and goes on the skin very easily. I love this stuff and I will definitely be buying more!
e.l.f. Cosmetics Intense Ink Eyeliner – I shared one of my favorite eyeliners with you guys last month but I got a new one this month and I think the changed the formula and I am just devastated. I’d been using the Maybelline eyeliner for about two years and I hadn’t found anything comparable quality wise. So, when I was placing my order, I decided to give this guy a try, I’ll let you know how it works!
e.l.f. Cosmetics Cream Eyeliner – Gel eyeliner used to be my go to choice, but again, the brand I was using changed their formula and I had to find a new favorite. This cream eyeliner was a reasonable price and I really wanted to give it a shot to see if I would like it! My only gripe with this product so far is that I wish it came with a bigger brush! I hate travel sized brushes that come with products and I throw them away all the time, which is just a waste!
e.l.f. Cosmetics Eyebrow Lifter and Filler – I have always used the Benefit eyebrow pencil and I couldn’t find the particular one I had been using online. I ordered many e.l.f. products this go around because I have heard great things about them, so I decided to give this pencil a try. I have used it a couple of times and I really love the pencil, it blends fairly easily and I love the lifter feature, it really accentuates my brows very well!
e.l.f. Cosmetics Eyebrow Kit – I haven’t ever tried using eyebrow gel and powder before, so I thought I would give this a try and I LOVE it! I love how easy it is to fill in my eyebrows with this product, it really allows you to fill in your eyebrows without the super harsh lines of using a pencil. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for an eyebrow filler, it works very very well!
Benefit Cosmetics Travel Size BADgal Lash Mascara – I have been wanting to try Benefit’s mascaras but I never remembered to pick it up when I went to Ulta before. I was browsing the travel size section of the Ulta website and I came across this and immediately added it to my cart. I am obsessed with this mascara, I love fat mascara brushes, they just work really well for me and this one is no different. I felt like it made my lashes look more full and voluminous.
Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Push-Up Eyeliner Mini – I found this eyeliner when I was looking for the Benefit mascara and I wanted to give it a try. It’s weird… Weird but good. It feels like a gel eyeliner, but goes on almost like a liquid eyeliner. The eyeliner rolls up and comes out of a slitted-silicone top. It works really well if you’re going for a winged eyeliner look, and it stays on very very well. I would definitely recommend getting the travel size to see if you like it before you buy the big one because it is a unique eyeliner. I feel like it might be a product that you either love or hate!
Smith’s Rosebud Salve Tube – I have seen so many bloggers talk about this lip balm, most recently Jen from Pretty Neat Living. I wanted to try a lip balm that would keep my lips moisturized and so far, this hasn’t disappointed!
e.l.f. Cosmetics Matte Lip Color – Dash of Pink – Just a warning, this pink is BRIGHT! I was not expecting this color to be so vivid. I really love the color that came, but I am slightly disappointed that the color isn’t as understated as I thought it would be. However, I did try it and it’s pigmented very very well, it is a gorgeous color!
NYX Cosmetics Simply Nude Lip Cream – I wanted to love this so much, but the color just isn’t what I was expecting, unfortunately. The color is much more orange based than I thought. I am going to try to give it a shot and see if it works with my skin tone, but I don’t think it’s going to work for me, sadly!
Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub – Brazilian Nut – I found out about this product from Jen Ross’s Empties video she recently posted. She raves about this stuff and after receiving the product, I can see why. I got the brazilian nut scent and it is going to be perfect for fall and winter. The sugar scrub isn’t too thick, there is a ton of it, and it is scented very well but it’s not overwhelming. I’m so excited to give it a try!
Ulta Fall Limited Edition Honey Pear Classic Rejuvenating Bath and Shower Gel – I have used the Ulta Body Smoothie shower gels before and I loved them. I wanted something that smelled like fall, with this season change, so I decided to give this a try. Even Freddie got in on it and used it last time he showered, it smells really great and the scent holds pretty well in the skin!
Ulta Luxe Restorative Moisture Lotion – I needed a small lotion to stick in my purse and I really wanted to get the free gift that Ulta was giving out for buying from their line of products, so I added this to my cart. I am so happy that I did because it smells amazing and looks like it has an amazing consistency, I am so excited to use this stuff!
Ulta Makeup Brush and Sponge Cleaner – Whew! I needed brush cleaner like nobody’s business, so I decided to just grab a bottle of the Ulta brand cleaner because they were running a special, if you spent a certain amount of money you got a free gift!
Ultra Heat Resistant Travel Pouch/Mat – I have been meaning to get one of these for the longest time. When we went on our little weekend getaway up to Tyson’s Corner for my birthday, I wanted to bring my straightening iron with me but I was so scared it would burn something in my bag, I decided to leave it at home. We were in a rush to get out the door and I didn’t have time to wait for it to cool down, so I ended up leaving it. This has happened so many times, it is so nice that I never have to worry about it again!
Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water and Makeup Remover – I have heard great things about this micellar water and I am almost out of my regular makeup remover wipes, so I wanted to give this a try. I have used it here and there to get that pesky mascara off of my top lid and some stray eyeshadow that fell and it has worked really well. I don’t think I’ll be going back to my old makeup remover wipes anytime soon!
TIGI Travel Size Small Talk – I am so bad about taking care of my hair. I don’t use any kind of products besides hairspray and on most days, I can tell. My hair gets really really flat, so I wanted to find something that would give my hair some volume. I searched for products that encourage volume and I found this guy. I decided to get a travel size of it so that I could give it a try, I’ll make sure to give you an update on how it works!
FREE 13 piece Gift – Floral – I got a few Ulta products in order to get the free gift because I LOVED the bag and I wanted to try a few of the products within the bag. Once I delve into the products a little more, I’ll be sure to update you on my favorites!
ManCave Shave Gel – Freddie has been shaving with cheap razors and cheap shaving cream for the longest time and he always ends up with razor burn. While I was ordering things for myself, I wanted to get him some stuff that he needed also. I found this when I was looking through shaving products and I loved that it had an anti-microbial ingredient in it so that he could minimize the razor bumps and ingrown hairs he was getting. He hasn’t given it a try yet, but it does smell heavenly!
ManCave Post Shave Balm – I got this for the same reason, I just wanted to get him something that he would use and hopefully love. This stuff smells great as well and I’ll be sure to give you an update on his opinions about the post shave balm!
Jack Black Turbo Wash Energizing Cleanser – I found this when I was looking for cleansers for Freddie and I just wanted to get him something nice. He did give this a try and he said he really loved the smell and that it felt like it woke his skin up, which he really liked. He typically showers in the early mornings before he goes to work and he liked feeling awake and refreshed when he used this product!
Wow, that’s a lot of stuff! I’m really happy with most of the products that I got. Even though I haven’t had a chance to use a lot of them, I promise that I will keep you guys updated on my opinion of these products. You may even end up seeing them in one of my favorites posts, we will see!
