As most of you must know at this point, our house is almost finished! We only have finishing touches and cleaning to do before the big reveal. However, I wanted to give you guys a peek into what we are planning for the different rooms in our new home. Today, I’m going to share my inspiration for the laundry room.
First off, our laundry room is HUGE and we are so excited for that. After having it in a closet for two years, I am so excited to have room to fold and actually put dirty laundry and be able to shut the door! The whole addition on the right side of the house is pretty much dedicated to laundry. In addition to the laundry, we are hoping to keep all of our cleaning supplies stashed in there also. With this house being an older, there is quite a lack of storage space/closets.
Let’s start off with the most important part, the washer and dryer. My plan is to put a shelf over the washer and dryer. Right now we have a washer that is a top load, so I want to put a shallow shelf above where the controls are, like the photo below.
In addition to the shelf above the washer and dryer, I would like to get some cupboards and open shelves put above the washer and dryer. I think that this will maximize my storage and allow me to hide away our Tide Pods when we aren’t using them so baby doesn’t get to them.
Along with storing anything laundry related in this room, we are also wanting to store our mop, broom, swiffer, duster, etc. My plan is to hang some hooks up on the wall and keep all of our cleaning supplies there along with an ironing board, like the photo below.
Lastly, I want a more organized way to sort our laundry. We used to have a huge laundry organizer that we kept in our bedroom, however, it was such a pain to keep together. The bags that held the dirty laundry were constantly falling down, the base of the organizer was just way too large, and the bags were very small. So, I want to create something better, maybe with laundry baskets rather than bags, something that is going to be more sturdy. My goal is to make something like the photo below.
My only concern with the above storage solution is that it might be a little too large. We only have a limited amount of space that we are working with and I pray that something like this will fit.
That’s about all I have to share with you guys regarding our laundry room. I think these ideas will work very well in our new home in the laundry room. I think that it will allow us to be more organized and I am super excited about that!
