Can you believe that just eight short months ago Jacob was born? Neither can I. In just four months we will be celebrating the first year of his life. The fact that these eight months have gone by so quickly still baffles me. I’m dumbfounded that I’m going to be the mother to a one year old son soon.
This month Jacob has truly amazed me. Jacob has finally gotten the hang of rolling over! In addition, he always wants to stand, he has even started taking mini steps if you hold his hands. He has done so much growing up this past month and my emotions can’t handle it. In addition to all the fun things, Jacob is also blatantly more independent this month. He is actually getting some playtime in in his pack and play. He will sit and play with the stack-a-ring toy and his shape sorting bucket. It’s so nice getting some time to get things done during the day but it’s also so sad that he doesn’t need me like he once did.
He also has been sleeping in his crib by himself for this past month. We did some light sleep training with Jacob and I am so happy that we decided to do it. Jacob could not settle himself in any way, shape or form before we started his sleep training. Now, however, Jacob has learned ways to calm himself, mostly with his lovey, Simba. Since moving him to his crib, he has been pretty consistent with sleeping through the night. The only time he wakes up is if Freddie and I are being a little noisy getting in the room. We have implemented a bedtime of 7:30 which suits him perfectly. Most mornings, Jacob will wake up at 7-7:30 to eat and go back to sleep until 8:30 or 9 am. I count my lucky stars that he does this, trust me!
This month Jacob really delved into food. He has so much fun trying new things and feeding himself. His favorite food is definitely eggs, he has them every morning for breakfast. Now that he has gotten a taste of “table food” he shows very little interest in purees. Jacob would much rather feed himself some banana, toast, or pasta. I’m definitely happy that we have steered more toward the baby led weaning route instead of purees. It’s so much easier to just feed Jacob the same thing that I am having instead of getting him something completely different and having to spoon feed him every bite.
