Hi everyone!

I have talked to you guys previously about my experience with the FlyLady cleaning system, I wanted to take some time and update you guys with my daily cleaning schedule. The FlyLady suggests that you make routines for yourself, as they’re easier to stick to. Per her recommendations, I made both a morning routine and a nighttime routine, I tried to keep them as balanced as possible, making sure that I didn’t put too much on my plate in the morning or at night. Check out my morning and night time routines below:

Morning Routine

  • Brush Teeth
  • Vitamins
  • Wash Face
  • Style Hair
  • Deoderant
  • Get Dressed
  • Swish and Swirl – quick toilet wipe down
  • Make Bed
  • Throw in a load of laundry
  • Unload dishwasher
  • Feed dogs
  • Breakfast
  • Planner check
  • Check e-mails
  • Social Media check for the blog
  • Daily Bible Verse
  • Move laundry to dryer
  • Water plants

Nightly Routine

  • Feed dogs
  • Five minute kitchen clean
  • Load any leftover dishes
  • Reset couch and blankets
  • Prep meals for the next day
  • Planner check – write in appointments for next day
  • Check e-mails
  • To-do list for next day – if needed
  • Shower
  • Brush teeth
  • Wash face
  • Set out clothes
  • Bed by 11:30p

My morning routine takes an hour to two hours depending on how much makeup I am having to put on, if I am styling my hair special, or if I have a lot of e-mails or social media comments to respond to! My nightly routine takes about an hour, if I start at 10:30. But, to be honest, I feel like I have a lot more flexibility with my nightly routine, sometimes I will start it at 8:30pm and take my time checking these items off my list!

In addition to having a morning routine and a nightly routine, I also have tasks that are specific to every day of the week:

  • Monday
    • Clean Stainless Steel appliances
    • Wash bed sheets
    • Wash dog bowls and mats
    • Blog prep for the week – planning out posts, taking photos for posts, writing posts, etc.
    • Empty all garbage cans
    • Mop all floors
  • Tuesday
    • Zone tasks – Keep your eye out for my weekly zone posts to see how I conquer each set zone!
    • “Do something for yourself” day
  • Wednesday
    • Zone tasks
    • Sweep all floors
    • Deep clean bathrooms
    • Give dogs a bath – every other week
  • Thursday
    • Organize mail and command center
    • Track expenses and file receipts
    • Plan 2nd half of my week
    • Menu plan
    • Grocery list
  • Friday
    • Clean out car of all trash
    • Sweep all floors
    • Grocery shopping
    • Errands

These tasks that are done weekly really don’t take a ton of time, they can be done at any point during my day, and they really help me to stay on track. I love having set days to do everything, because it never makes me question, “oh crap, when did I wash the sheets last?”. Also, with this cleaning system, you get weekends off completely! So, on Saturday and Sunday, I don’t do any laundry, I don’t do any cleaning, rather I get to spend my time enjoying the weekend with my fiancé and puppies (and soon our son!).

How do you guys like the flylady cleaning system? Do you think it is something that would work for you? Have you tried it before? Were you unsuccessful? Why do you think you were unsucessful? Are you feeling overwhelmed and don’t know where to start? Please, reach out in the comment section below and let me know what you think and if you need help getting your cleaning list organized, my e-mail inbox is always open! 1. A regular cleaning system is definitely something I’ve struggled with in the past, I think because it’s just not a big enough priority at this stage in my life! But your system sounds fabulous!

  2. Thank you! It definitely has simplified things, and I am hoping that it will make things a little easier when baby decides to come! We will see! 🙂
