Hi everyone!

It’s been a while since I have shared our weekend family adventures with you. Life has been busy recently and some of our great friends extended an invitation to join them at Carter Mountain Orchard. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to make it but we decided to go anyway. The last time Freddie and I had visited was in September of 2015. Freddie and I were planning to take the trip last year but with the complications revolving around my c-section, it wasn’t a feasible trip for us. All year I have been looking forward to getting back up there and enjoying the absolutely gorgeous views again. We visited on Saturday with no intention on buying any apples or even trekking up the side of the mountain into the orchard. Our main focus was to relax, unwind, and spend time together.

We spent about three hours exploring the apple barn, enjoying the views, having lunch, and even indulging in a hard cider. Jacob had an absolute blast. He isn’t walking yet, but he does walk very well when you hold his hands. He spent a ton of time walking back and forth along the grass. we checked out some fun facts about honey bees and the seasons of apples. Jacob even made two friends! We met a sweet 14 month old named Sammy first. Sammy’s mom and I bonded over our love of Target (Jacob and Sammy had the same shoes — from Target). Jacob and Sammy sat in the grass and had a little chat. They even gave each other guys (and Jacob gave him a kiss) before Sammy and family went to go pick apples. Next we met another sweet momma and her son, Gus! Gus and Jacob have the same birthday. It was so sweet Jacob got to meet a fellow overdue birthday buddy.

One of the most amazing things about Carter Mountain are the apple cider donuts. They make them there and sometimes you’re lucky enough to catch them fresh. Saturday was one of those times. The first time we visited was pretty early in the season and we visited during a less busy weekday. Don’t get me wrong, the donuts were still amazing but there is justĀ something about a warm apple cider donut; I can’t explain it. Along with our apple cider donuts I got an apple cider slushie to cool down. I definitely mis-judged the weather, I thought it would beĀ much cooler. I guess that’s just my wishful thinking for fall to be here!
