Hello everyone!

Babymoon 2016

Freddie and I, in the two years that we have been together, have not had the chance to take a vacation. We both have been working really hard in school and at work and there wasn’t a time where we could afford to take a week off from our lives to go on a vacation. Fortunately, this past week we were lucky enough to head down to the beach for a week and celebrate our baby with an early babymoon. We knew that this spring we would have a lot on our plates so we decided to take our little vacation early to recharge and we had the best time! With our big move and Freddie starting a new quarter in school, we knew that this was our only window to be able to spend some time together before the baby comes in September.

So, what is a babymoon? It’s a time to take with your partner to enjoy your time together before your baby comes. Why is it important? This is the last time that you guys will have together without the worry of finding a babysitter or making stressing that your little one is okay while you’re away. We knew, for us at least, that taking this time was so important. As some of you may know, Freddie has a child from a previous relationship and we are currently working toward getting more time with his little one, hopefully sometime soon! We are hoping to have that time together by the time that our little one comes. We know that having two children under three won’t be the easiest thing along with two puppies under the age of two. So, we really wanted to enjoy our time together and I’m so happy to say that we did.

We spent our week mostly relaxing. We got to explore the little town of Surf City one day and get some ¬†fudge. If you are ever in the town of Surf City, check out Topsail Trading Company and get some of their fudge, it’s delicious! Then we went down to Wilmington, North Carolina and did a little bit of shopping for the beach house and walked around an outdoor mall, checked out a little wine store as well. We even had a day where we only laid in bed and watched “Botched” all day long. Another day we went into Jacksonville and got some board games to play along with new antlers for the puppies to chew on. It was just so wonderful to be able to have a week to spend with the love of my life, my two furry babies and the little one growing with me. I have to say, though, the highlight of the vacation for me was being able to buy a new digital SLR camera and be able to take the photos for our pregnancy announcement. Freddie and I just had so much fun on the beach and making the little wooden sign we used. A lot of love and planning went into those photos and I’m so happy I get to share them with you all.

Did any of the other mommas out there go on a babymoon? If so, where did you go and what did you do? Don’t forget to let us know in the comments and enter your email in the subscription box below to get Two Dapper Dogs’ posts right to your inbox!
